FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Sept. 10, 2026) — Fort Worth Country Day (FWCD) invites the media and community to the annual Captain David R. Herr, Jr. ’80 Memorial Lecture featuring three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner and acclaimed historian, author, and former Washington Post journalist, Rick Atkinson.
Atkinson will present “From Ordinary to Extraordinary: George Washington and Dwight D. Eisenhower at War,” exploring how two of America’s most celebrated military leaders navigated high-stakes crisis, coalition warfare, and wartime command. Drawing from his best-selling Revolution and Liberation trilogies, Atkinson will offer timeless insights into leadership, perseverance, and democracy. A public reception will follow.
