True North Advisors (“True North”), a founder-led, Texas-based Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) with over $5.18 billion in assets under management (as of June 30, 2025), announced today that Zak Kuhlman, Senior Director of Wealth Management, has joined the firm’s shareholder group. Based in the Fort Worth office, Kuhlman becomes the second partner in the city alongside Chris Pate, Chief Operating Officer of True North, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to Fort Worth and its long-term growth.
True North first planted its roots in Fort Worth through the 2018 acquisition of Western Research & Management, which had been led by Pate since 2011. The firm’s decision to expand ownership representation in Fort Worth reflects the city’s outsized role in its future. “True North’s expanded leadership presence reflects our confidence in its long-term growth, but more importantly our confidence in Zak’s abilities,” said Chris Pate. “Adding Zak to the shareholder group is a natural extension as we build internal resources to best serve the families and business owners that are make up our client base.”
Kuhlman, who joined True North in 2022, oversees the firm’s Fort Worth office and advisory team. With over 15 years of experience in the multi-family office space, he has played a critical role in advancing client relationships and expanding True North’s presence in Tarrant County. “Zak’s elevation to shareholder reflects his ability to lead with both strategic vision and client focus,” Pate said.
