TRWD, City of Fort Worth seeking volunteers for tree planting events in November

In celebration of Texas Arbor Day, the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) and the City of Fort Worth are hosting two tree planting events in November along the Trinity River Floodway in Fort Worth. Both events are part of an effort by TRWD to provide additional shade along the popular 72-mile Trinity Trails System, which was recommended in the District’s Recreation Master Plan earlier this year.

The first event will take place on Friday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fourth Street Trailhead located at 2400 E. 4th Street in Fort Worth. The second tree planting event will take place on Friday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at River Park, located at 3100 Bryant Irvin Rd. in southwest Fort Worth.  More than 50 trees are expected to be planted during the two-day effort. Volunteers will also receive hands-on planting experience, live demonstrations and give-a-ways such as knee pads, bucket hats, and birdhouses. In addition, volunteers can take home saplings provided by the Tarrant County Master Gardeners and the Fort Worth Garden Club. If you are interested in volunteering at one or both events, please email Recreation@trwd.com to reserve your spot.
