ARLINGTON, Texas (July 23, 2025) – United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) invites families in the
Greater Arlington area to Money and Me, a free event focused on building financial confidence,
Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Downtown Arlington Library, 100 S Center St #327.
Designed for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents, Money and Me
offers hands-on activities that make learning about money both fun and practical.
Activities include:
- Free backpacks for children who complete four activities
- Engaging workshops on smart money skills
- Interactive stations led by local organizations offering financial tools and resources
- YMCA’s Y on the Fly, providing outdoor games and physical activities
“This event is a great way for the younger generation to get a head start on learning about savings
and good money practices,” said Shon Dorsey, UWTC EVP and Chief Impact Officer. “When kids
understand the value of money, they’re better equipped to make smart choices that can lead to a
lifetime of financial well-being.”
The event provides a unique opportunity for families to learn practical skills together. Introducing
financial concepts early helps households make informed decisions and work toward long-term
stability.
Money and Me is hosted by UWTC’s Greater Arlington Financial Stability Partnership Subcommittee,
a collaborative team of staff, community members and agencies dedicated to promoting selfsufficiency
through resources like financial education and free tax preparation services.
