United Way of Tarrant County Welcomes Ryan Barrera as Director of Development

United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) has named Ryan Barrera as its new director of development, tapping a seasoned nonprofit leader known for driving community engagement and fundraising success.
With more than a decade of experience across major North Texas organizations, Barrera steps into the role with a strong focus on building meaningful donor relationships, advancing UWTC’s campaigns and leading high-impact engagement initiatives. He will also help guide volunteer leadership and expand a growing network of community partners to strengthen the organization’s development pipeline.
“Ryan brings a deep understanding of our community and a strong track record of building meaningful partnerships,” said Adam D. Powell, president and CEO of UWTC. “His leadership experience shows his ability to drive results while keeping people at the center of the work. We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”
Barrera most recently served as chief advancement officer at Camp Fire First Texas, where he led development, marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement. His career also includes leadership roles with The Salvation Army of North Texas, Canine Companions and Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth. He began his professional journey at Texas Health Resources Foundation, where he held several positions.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Barrera is active in community leadership. He serves as programs chair for the Lone Star Council of Charitable Gift Planners and as community outreach committee chair for the Rotary Club of Fort Worth. He is also a 2025 Fort Worth Inc. 40 Under 40 honoree and a graduate of Leadership Fort Worth’s Leadership Class 2025.

Barrera earned his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas. He is a resident of Fort Worth.
