2 people found dead in North Texas home after standoff

WATAUGA, Texas (AP) — Police in North Texas have discovered the bodies of two people inside a home after an hours-long standoff with officers.

Officials say a SWAT team entered the house in Watauga, a suburb about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northeast of Fort Worth, around 6 p.m. Saturday and found the bodies of a man and a woman in a bedroom. Their names haven’t been released.

Police say officers went to the home after a man called 911 and suggested he may have hurt himself or someone else. Officials have not said what caused the deaths but say there’s no ongoing threat.

People who lived near the house were told to shelter in their homes or stay away from the area for several hours. Resident were allowed to return around 7 p.m.
