2 taken into custody after shots fired at Texas officer

ENNIS, Texas (AP) — Authorities have taken a man and woman into custody after someone in a fleeing car shot at a North Texas police officer.

Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Lonny Haschel said the two were taken into custody without incident Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say the Ennis officer was not injured during Tuesday’s incident.

Police in Ennis, 30 miles southeast of Dallas, received a 911 call Tuesday morning about gunfire in a neighborhood and a possible drive-by shooting.

Haschel says an Ennis officer tried to pull over a vehicle suspected of being part of the incident. The driver refused to stop, as shots were fired from the fleeing vehicle.

The two suspects abandoned the car in a field, about 10 miles south of Ennis, and were later taken into custody.
