861 pets adopted at Mega Event

From the City of Fort Worth website:

There were many happy tears all around as 861 pets found their forever homes during the Mega Adoption Event, co-hosted by the Fort Worth Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT).

The animal shelter credits the amazing support of the community and residents’ love of pets for the record-setting success.

“Fort Worth is an incredible city that supports the efforts of our animal shelter,” said Tim Morton, assistant director of code compliance with oversight of the animal shelter. “Like many other animal welfare organizations in North Texas, we’ve been at capacity for the past months. Together with the HSNT, we set a goal of 500 adoptions. We thought that was a realistic goal. I don’t know if we even thought about surpassing 500 adoptions, yet alone reaching over 800. We’re touched by the compassion shown by residents of Fort Worth.”

The Fort Worth Animal Shelter had 395 adoptions and HSNT had 466 adoptions.

With all the excitement of the Mega Adoption Event, Morton reminded residents that staff at the shelter is always available to assist new pet parents with questions or issues they may have. Pet parents can contact the city’s call center at 817-392-1234.
