🕐 1 min read

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Police say a North Texas homeowner collapsed and died after fatally shooting an intruder he found in his garage.

Arlington police say the resident heard suspicious noises late Wednesday night and called 911.

Officers responding to a burglary-in-progress call arrived to find a wounded 24-year-old man, who was transported to a hospital and died. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday identified him as Destrey Tinner of Amarillo.

Authorities say the 54-year-old homeowner was speaking with officers when he collapsed. The homeowner was taken to a hospital, where he also died. A coroner identified him as David Stephenson of Arlington. No cause of death was immediately listed.

Arlington police didn’t immediately provide additional information Thursday.
