Arrest made in 1987 Texas slaying of college student, 19

WEATHERFORD, Texas (AP) — Police in North Texas have arrested a suspect in the 1987 slaying of a college student last seen alive while sunbathing.

Weatherford police say 59-year-old Ricky Lee Adkins of Ranger was arrested Wednesday at his home on a capital murder charge. A police statement says a grand jury on Dec. 1 indicted Adkins in the death of 19-year-old Wendy Kae Robinson of Willow Park.

Police say Robinson on July 8, 1987, was sunbathing at Lake Weatherford when she disappeared. Her body was found days later near a ranch. Police determined the freshman at Weatherford College suffered blunt force trauma.

Authorities didn’t immediately say what led investigators to Adkins. Online jail records didn’t immediately list bond or an attorney to speak for him.
