The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance of $5,840,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Boyd in Wise County June 21.
The city will use the assistance to finance the planning, acquisition, design and construction costs associated with water system improvements, TWDB said in a news release.
The decision could save Boyd approximately $166,000, the release said. Boyd plans to make improvements to the water supply, treatment, pumping and storage facilities. In addition, the city will create an asset management plan and a water conservation and drought contingency plan.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources.
The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
