AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — State Rep. Dan Branch says he has raised $1.9 million in the last six months for his campaign to become the next Texas attorney general.
The Dallas Republican announced Thursday that his campaign has $4.9 million in cash on hand. Branch’s campaign manager Enrique Marquez said the campaign has not taken any loans.
Branch is running against Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman and state Sen. Ken Paxton in the Republican primary on March 4. Attorney General Greg Abbott is running for governor.
Neither Smitherman nor Paxton have released fundraising totals, which are due to the Texas Ethics Commission on Jan. 15.
The campaign did not release information about the number or donors to the campaign, or the average size of the donations. Texas has no limit on campaign contributions.
