The weather is calling for a cool Tuesday on June 11, good for an evening picnic.

Tuesday is also the 100-year anniversary of Burnett Park in Downtown Fort Worth. To celebrate the occasion, Downtown Fort Worth Inc. is organizing a picnic featuring live music, games and popsicle giveaways.

Texas rancher Samuel Burk Burnett donated a piece of land to the City of Fort Worth. In 1919, the land became the Burnett Memorial park, located at West 7th and Lamar Street. The Burnett Foundation has taken on the perservation, renovations, maintenance and landscaping efforts for a century.

The event on Tuesday is free for attendees, who may bring their own food and beverage. Or, Ashton Depot is also offering a picnic package available for pre-order through June 7.
