Byrd defeats Zimmerman, Price easily re-elected as voters decide municipal lineup

Dr. Brian Byrd defeated Fort Worth City Council incumbent W.B. ‘Zim’ Zimmerman with 54 percent of the vote. Zimmerman was seeking his fourth term for the District 3 seat that serves southwest Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price was re-elected with 70 percent of the vote over challenger Chris Nettles who received 30 percent.

In the District 9 race for the Fort Worth City Council incumbent Ann Zadeh receive 66 percent of the vote compared to challenger John Fitzgerald’s 34 percent.

In the District 4 race incumbent Cary Moon was elected to his second term with 76 percent of the vote, over Max J. Striker, who received 24 percent.

In the District 2 race to replace retiring Councilman Sal Espino, Carlos E. Flores, who received 44 percent of the vote, will face Steve Thornton, who received 36 percent of the vote, in a runoff. Jennifer Treviño received 18 percent of the vote and Tony Perez received 2 percent.

In the District 5 race on Fort Worth’s City Council, incumbent Gyna M. Bivens was easily re-elected with 96 percent of the vote over write-in candidate Bob Willoughby.

District 6 Fort Worth City Councilman Jungus Jordan was re-elected to his seventh term with 63 percent of the vote. Challengers Roderick ‘Rod’ Smith received 14 percent, Nicholas St. John received 12 percent and Paul E. Hicks received 11 percent.

Kelly Allen Gray won re-election to her District 8 seat on the Fort Worth City Council with 71 percent of the vote. Challengers Kevin ‘KL’ Johnson and write-in candidate Johnnie Sanders received 28 percent and 0.5 percent of the vote respectively.

In the race for the board of directors for the Tarrant Regional Water District, the top three candidates receiving the highest total of votes will have seats on the board.

Leah King received 29 percent of the vote, followed by James Hillk who received 23 percent and incumbent Jack Stevens who received 22 percent. Those three will receive seats on the board. Incumbent Mary Kelleher received 14 percent of the vote and Andra Beatty received 11 percent.

In a tight race for mayor in Keller Pat McGrail received 49.9 percent of the vote, while Rick Barnes received 48.6 percent and Kris Jara received 1.6 percent.

In Arlington ISD place 6 race,

Incumbent Bowie J. Hogg received 61 percent of the vote. His challenger Hunter W. Crow received 39 percent of the vote.

In the Arlington ISD place 7 race Kecia Mays received 63 percent of the vote to challenger Benita Shepherd’s 37 percent.

In the Fort Worth ISD District 4 race, T.A. Sims received 70 percent of the vote while challenger Johnny Cook-Muhammad received 30 percent.

In the Fort Worth ISD District 7 race, incumbent Norman Robbins received 53 percent of the vote while challenger Michael Ryan received 47 percent.

In the Fort Worth ISD District 8 race, Anael Luebanos received 58 percent of the vote over Jason Brown with 42 percent of the vote.

In the Fort Worth ISD District 9 race, Ashley Paz received 58 percent of the while Pilar Candia received 42 percent of the vote.

In the crowded race for Place 6 on the Mansfield ISD board of trustee, Darrell Sneed received 38 percent of the vote and will face Jessica Camacho, who received 15 percent, in a runoff.

In the Mansfield ISD Place 7 race, Courtney Lackey Wilson received 74 percent of the vote compared to Kevin Robedee who received 26 percent.

Also closely watched in Mansfield was the school district’s bond proposition. The bond proposal passed with 65 percent of the vote.

In his first re-election bid, Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams received 71 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Chris ‘Dobi’ Dobson who received 29 percent of the vote.

In a close race in Forest Hill, Lyndia Thomas received 50.2 percent of the vote, defeating Gerald Joubert who received 49.9 percent.
