City of Saginaw names new director of economic development

Alora M. Wachholz

Alora M. Wachholz has joined the City of Saginaw as the new director of economic development, a May 10 news release announced.

Wachholz has a decade of experience in the economic development industry in local business recruitment, retention and commercial development.

Most recently, she served as Flower Mound’s economic development manager and interim director during the largest growth cycle in the community’s history, the release stated. Wachholz is recognized as an integral force in increasing sales tax revenues by 27.2 percent and adding more than 400 new businesses and 4,500 new jobs to the local economy since 2014.

Wachholz holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University.

According to the release, she has also completed the intensive Service Leading, Educating, and Development (LEAD) executive leadership program through the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and the University of Oklahoma’s three-year Economic Development Institute.
