Council Report: Council to discuss short-term rental regulations

Infrastructure and Transportation Committee, 2 p.m. Sept. 10

Committee members will hear a presentation on the Fort Worth Sports Facility Feasibility Study. The study was conducted to evaluate current youth sports facilities and to provide recommendations to move forward with facility enhancements and/or new venue developments that would drive sports tourism.

City Council Work Session, 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10

Staff will provide an update on the Will Rogers Memorial Center Pioneer Tower rehabilitation project and advise the Council on an additional $981,050 needed to restore the infrastructure at the nationally registered, 84-year-old structure. If the additional funding is approved at the City Council meeting, the total cost of the project would be $4,737,100. If approved, the work would be completed in time for a scheduled tower relighting celebration on Nov. 6.

The Planning & Development and Legal departments will make a presentation on short-term rental regulations in Fort Worth. The purpose is to review current zoning regulations and enforcement; review regulations in other cities; and review examine recommendations, compliance options and next steps.

Staff and city partners will present information on efforts by For A Healthier Fort Worth, which include updates to the city’s Healthy Food Policy, education on healthy food, a food recovery pilot project at a grocery store and a look at two innovative grocery store models designed to provide healthy and affordable food to residents.

City Council meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10

The second of two opportunities for residents to share their thoughts on the proposed 2020 budget is on the agenda. The City Council is scheduled to vote on adopting the budget and the property tax rate at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at City Hall.

The Council will consider a resolution authorizing an application for the Fiscal Year 2019 Homeland Security Grant from the state of Texas for up to $3,381,183.
