Council Report: Impact of proposed utility rate and fee increases

FEES IMPACT REPORT

The Fort Worth City Council, at Tuesday’s work session, received a report on the annual impact of the proposed utility rate and fee increases, and increases in property values in the upcoming proposed budget.

The following figures are based on a single-family home valued at $200,000.

*Property tax levy – Monthly: current $104.67, proposed $109.63. Annual: current $1,256.00, proposed $1,315.60. Difference plus 4.7%.

*Water and sewer – Monthly: current $64.97, proposed $67.44. Annual: current $779.64, proposed $809.28. Difference plus 3.8%.

*Solid waste fee – Monthly: current $17.50, proposed $17.50. Annual: current $210, proposed $210. No difference.

*Environmental fee – Monthly: current $0.50, proposed $0.50. Annual: current $6, proposed $6. No difference.

*Stormwater fee – Monthly: current $5.40, proposed $5.75. Annual: current $64.80, proposed $69. Difference plus 6.5%

Total – Monthly: current $193.04, proposed $200.82. Annual: current $2,316.44, proposed $2,409.88. Difference plus 4%.

Overall increase – Monthly $7.78, annual $93.44.

The recommended budget also contemplates a 3.75 cent reduction in the property tax rate, but this reduction is offset by an overall increase in adjusted net taxable values of 14.3 percent.
