Council Wrapup: 2 officers honored

Two Fort Worth police officers were honored during the Sept. 11 city council meeting. The Sons of the American Revolution recognized Officers Justin Henry and Trae Cierzan for their prevention of a suicide attempt. The video of the incident was posted on the FWPD social media and received a large amount of attention.

“We respect and appreciate our officers and wish them God’s blessing,” said Gerry Geiger, president of the Van Zandt Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

In August the two officers encountered a woman who was preparing to jump off a bridge. By talking with her, they were able to get her off the ledge and into the patrol car, where they took her to get help.

“I just want you to know how proud you make us,” District 5 Councilwoman Gyna Bivens said. “We appreciate you, we’re proud of you, and you make this city look good.”
