Dallas man gets life sentence for teen’s 2015 death

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2015 death of a teenager who went missing after stopping to return a rented DVD on her way to church.

Jurors returned with the maximum sentence Monday afternoon after finding Antonio Cochran guilty Saturday of murdering 18-year-old Zoe Hastings.

Prosecutors had sought a capital murder conviction against the 37-year-old Cochran, who authorities say abducted Hastings, drove her to a nearby creek bed and sexually assaulted her before killing her.
