Dallas police fatally shoot man who pointed gun at officers

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police say a man driving a stolen vehicle was fatally shot by officers when he pointed his handgun at them after crashing into a creek following a chase.

Police say the incident started early Friday morning when the suspect hit an unoccupied vehicle parked along a street. When a person came out to investigate, the suspect fired at the citizen. The suspect then hit several other vehicles as he fled.

Police say that after the suspect crashed into the creek, officers ordered him out of the vehicle. The suspect was armed with a handgun as he exited. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon but he raised it and pointed in the direction of the officers.

Neither the officers nor the citizen were injured.
