Dallas Police: Girl, 9, killed in mistaken gang-related shooting

DALLAS (AP) — A 9-year-old girl was shot and killed in what Dallas police say was a gang-related shooting of the wrong apartment.

A Dallas police statement says the shooting happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment building in the Old East Dallas section just northeast of downtown.

Witnesses told officers that the suspects approached an apartment and demanded that one of the tenants come outside.

The tenant refused, so the suspects circled around to the back of the apartment building and opened fire on the wrong apartment, wounding the child.
