Election Notes: Nguyen loses to Allen; Arlington term limits

In the Tarrant County Commissioners race, Precinct 2 Commissioner Andy Nguyen lost to his Democratic challenger, Devan Allen, 51 percent to 48 percent.

Arlington voters, by an overwhelming margin, approved a proposition that imposed term limts on the Arlington City Council.

According to unofficial returns, about 63 percent of voters were in favor of the term limits with 37 percent voting against the controversial proposition.

The proposition limits council members and the mayor to three two-year terms. The measure is retroactive, meaning three incumbents – Kathryn Wilemon, Lana Wolff and Michael Glaspie – will be unable to seek re-election in May.
