Ex-cop from Texas pleads guilty to conspiracy in double slaying

SODUS, N.Y. (AP) — A former Texas police officer has pleaded guilty to conspiracy for renting a car used by a fellow lawman charged with killing two people in upstate New York.

Bron Bohlar of Sunray, Texas, pleaded guilty to the felony on Thursday in New York’s Wayne County Court. His lawyer says Bohlar simply rented a car for former Sunray police chief Timothy Dean.

Prosecutors say Dean and his wife, Charlene Childers, drove to the western New York town of Sodus in October and killed Amber Washburn and Joshua Niles. Friends and relatives say Niles had recently won custody of the two children he had with Childers.

Childers and Dean have pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
