More than 65 animal shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – including the Fort Worth Animal Shelter and Human Society of North Texas – will participate in a nationwide pet adoption drive this weekend.

Clear the Shelters, hosted by NBC 5 and Telemundo 39, will offer adoptions at no cost. The event takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Among the Fort Worth area shelters participating are the Fort Worth Animal Shelter, 4900 Martin St.; Human Society of North Texas, 1840 East Lancaster Ave.; and Animal Hope, 6708 South Hulen Drive.

Clear the Shelters began locally in 2014 then became a national event the following year.
