Fort Worth cop used pepper spray because motorcycles were too close

🕐 1 min read

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – A Fort Worth police officer seen on video discharging pepper spray at passing motorcycle riders says they got too close after he pulled over a truck traveling with the group.

KXAS-TV reported Monday that the officer in the March 13 incident, W. Figueroa, says the motorcyclists moved out of the lane closest to him after he sprayed toward them.

Figueroa, who’s on administrative duty amid the investigation, also wrote in his report that some motorcycles were being driven on one wheel, weaving in and out of traffic and not letting other motorists pass.

A motorcyclist with a GoPro camera recorded Figueroa discharging pepper spray.

Officials say five people were treated at the scene for exposure to the spray. One man had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
