Republican criminal defense attorney Scott Walker of Fort Worth has won Place 5 on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state’s highest court for criminal matters, including death penalty cases.
Though he shares a name with the Wisconsin governor and former unsuccessful presidential candidate, the two men are not related.
Walker had said he was preparing for this election for 15 years by taking any appeals case he could get to sharpen his skills for the court. Walker joins a court that has been dominated by Republican judges for two decades.
Walker defeated Democrat and San Antonio criminal defense attorney Betsy Johnson.
