Fort Worth officials call press conference on video; Mayor issues statement

Mayor Betsy Price released a statement on the video earlier today: “I’ve been actively listening to the numerous messages from concerned citizens (and non-citizens alike) about the incident depicted in a video involving one of our Fort Worth Police Department officers. As a mother and a grandmother, one of my primary concerns is always for children who are oftentimes the most vulnerable in conflict … There is an investigation underway that will ensure justice and transparency.

I’m grateful for the strong working relationship we have in our city between officers &citizens. We will not support behavior that diminishes the safety of our citizens nor the reputation of one of the finest police departments in the nation.”

A press conference will take place at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2016, outside of the City Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton St.
