GOP convention site choice officials visit Dallas

DALLAS (AP) — Republican officials reviewing candidate cities to host the GOP’s 2016 presidential nominating convention visit Dallas this week.

Mayor Mike Rawlings and former U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will be among the dignitaries who will guide National GOP Chairman Reince Priebus and other party officials through Victory Plaza and the American Airlines Center on the edge of downtown Dallas. The tour is scheduled for Thursday.

Meanwhile, Enid Mickelson, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee site-selection committee, says party officials already have ruled out AT&T Stadium, the Dallas Cowboy’s home venue in Arlington, because it’s too remote from convention hotels and support resources in Dallas.
