Grapevine issues declaration of disaster

The city of Grapevine has issued a declaration of disaster and evacuation order effective 10 p.m. Wednesday June 17.

Prompting the decision was what the city called significant lake rise between late morning and late night Wednesday and the preliminary expected lake levels of Grapevine Lake, which feeds into Denton Creek. Mayor William D. Tate signed the measure, though city officials reported no evacuations taking place despite the evacuation order.

“This declaration allows for extraordinary measures to be taken to protect life and property,” read part of a city news release.
