Houston carjacker fatally shot by victim

🕐 1 min read

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police say a suspected carjacker has been shot and killed by the man whose pickup truck he and two companions were trying to steal.

Authorities say the truck owner arrived at his apartment complex and was approached by three men who put a gun to his head and took his vehicle.

When a gate blocked them from leaving, they were forced to turn around and tried to run over their victim. He was armed and shot at them as they began running away on foot and fired at him. One of them, identified only as a 33-year-old man, was hit and was pronounced dead at a hospital Thursday. His two partners are being sought.

Police say a grand jury will decide if the truck owner faces any charges.
