IRVING, Texas (AP) — Suburban Dallas police have arrested a man they say stabbed a dog to death.
Authorities in Irving say 60-year-old Joseph Ray Schell is held on a charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals for the Feb. 26 killing of a dog believed to be a pit bull mix.
Police spokesman James McLellan said Friday a surveillance video from the area behind a business shows the dog was tied to a trash bin, was stabbed several times and then was left to die. He says there’s no indication the dog, believed about 3 years old, did anything to provoke Schell.
