New Texas A&M San Antonio center, M.Jur. degree program to launch fall 2018

Fort Worth-based Texas A&M University School of Law announced on Thursday, July 6, its fall opening of the San Antonio Center.

The center will be the headquarters of the law school’s new Masters of Jurisprudence degree program, also launching fall 2018.

The “M.Jur.” is a business concentrated graduate degree “for working adults who seek to advance their careers with a higher level understanding of law as it impacts business,” according to a Texas A&M news release.

“This degree is designed for professionals working in positions involving compliance, risk management, contracting and negotiation, human resources, and more,” Professor Mark Burge in a news release. “We are particularly excited about offering a degree that is structured to accommodate the scheduling demands of San Antonio-area residents engaged in full-time business careers.”

Burge directs the San Antonio program, which incorporates blended biweekly night classes and online content to help provide the most flexible degree options for students.

Located at 711 Navarro St., the center will be the core of the school’s Business Speaker Series, in which Texas A&M faculty will have the opportunity to speak to the business and legal communities in San Antonio.

Registration for the next Business Speakers event, Tuesday, July 11, at noon, is now open and will feature Professor Michael Z. Green, an expert in labor and employment law.

The free event includes lunch, with this session entitled “The Business of Valuing Human Resources.”
