No charges against police in shooting of Texan suspected in robbery

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan says the four police officers involved in the shooting of an unarmed robbery suspect in Brattleboro this spring will not face charges.

Mark Triolo of Lewisville, Texas, was shot and wounded in May when police say he refused to show his hands. He was a suspect in a series of robberies.

Donovan said Thursday that his office will not prosecute the officers involved. He said he cannot release more information at this time because Triolo is facing criminal charges related to the incident.

He says his office and the Windham County State’s Attorney’s office may release additional information when the charges against Triolo are resolved.
