DENTON, Texas (AP) — Police say a North Texas parole officer has been accused of getting hydrocodone pills from a convict he was overseeing.
Denton police say 52-year-old Michael Lee Bush was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance after allegedly receiving the prescription pain killer from a parolee.
Police say Bush requested an unscheduled meeting with the parolee. A police statement says the exchange allegedly took place in the parking lot of the Denton parole office where Bush works.
Jail records show Bush is free on $5,000 bond. Police say court records did not immediately list an attorney to speak for Bush, who’s a Texas Department of Criminal Justice employee.
TDCJ spokesman Jason Clark say Bush’s job status was pending Thursday and he’s not allowed on agency property.
