Oklahoma man sought in death of father arrested in Texas

ROANOKE, Texas (AP) — An Oklahoma man who was being sought as a suspect in the stabbing death of his father has been arrested in Texas.

Police in Roanoke, Texas, said in a Facebook post that 21-year-old Jacob Barber was taken into custody early Wednesday after officers responding to a suspicious person report found him sleeping next to a commercial building.

Barber is being held in the Denton County jail on a murder charge and is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.

Authorities say the body of 48-year-old Glenn Barber was found in his Moore, Oklahoma, home Sunday after he failed to arrive for church.

Moore police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that it’s believed Jacob Barber was in North Texas because he has relatives who live in the area.

Online jail records don’t indicate whether Barber has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
