Police identify suspect in south Dallas rape cases

DALLAS (AP) — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with at least one of the nine sexual assaults they are investigating in south Dallas.

The department announced Saturday evening that DNA results provided a match for 38-year-old Van Dralan Dixson, who remains at-large.

Authorities are still waiting for lab results of evidence submitted for testing in other cases, and no additional charges have yet been filed.

Earlier Saturday, police said they were investigating another report of sexual assault in south Dallas to see if it was related to previous rapes.

Dallas Police spokesman DeMarquis Black said the latest offense was reported after 5 a.m. Saturday just south of downtown near Fair Park.

Nine women so far have been attacked by what may be the same rapist.
