Police: Man dies behind North Richland Hills Wal-Mart in SUV fire

 

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (AP) — Police in North Richland Hills say a man has died in a vehicle fire after he drove backward in circles behind a Wal-Mart.

North Richland Hills police responded to the store Tuesday to find the man’s SUV engulfed in flames. First responders couldn’t free the man, who died at the scene.

Witnesses tell police the motorist drove in circles in reverse for about two minutes before crashing into a stack of wooden pallets. They say vehicle got stuck in the pallets, which caught fire and trapped the driver.

The man’s identity hasn’t been released. An autopsy has been ordered.
