Police say suspected drug dealer shot by Fort Worth officer

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Fort Worth police are investigating an officer-involved shooting of what authorities say was a suspected drug dealer who turned violent.

Police said the man fought back after being stopped by the officer for questioning Saturday night and the officer unsuccessfully used an electronic stun gun to stop him. When the man got in his car, put it in reverse, ignored commands to stop and nearly hit the officer, the officer shot at him several times.

Authorities said the man, wounded in the torso, was able to drive a short distance but hit another car and then was arrested.

He was taken to a hospital.
