HOUSTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is returning to Texas for a campaign rally in the part of Texas where he grew up.

Paul will speak at a “Stand With Rand Rally” on Wednesday afternoon at a downtown Houston hotel.

The freshman U.S. senator from Kentucky grew up in nearby Brazoria County where his father was a gynecologist and a longtime maverick Republican congressman who made two unsuccessful presidential runs as a Republican and one as a Libertarian Party nominee.

Rand Paul shares many of the same libertarian views as Ron Paul, his father.
