Recovery Resource Council Expands Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program with $1.2 Million in New Funding

Recovery Resource Council is proud to announce that it has received an additional $1.2 million in funding for fiscal year 2025 from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for its Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, effective October 1, 2024. This significant funding increase enables the agency to expand its services beyond Tarrant, Denton, and Wichita counties into Dallas, Collin, and Parker counties, ultimately assisting an additional 120 veteran households.

The SSVF program is dedicated to preventing homelessness and providing rapid rehousing for low-income veterans and their families. Through personalized case management, the program offers critical services, including emergency financial assistance, housing stability planning, and access to mental health counseling, healthcare navigation, and substance use disorder treatment. Additionally, the program assists participants in obtaining VA benefits and employment support.

With the new funding, Recovery Resource Council will enhance its capacity to deliver these essential services across a broader geographic area. This expansion will build on the agency’s existing infrastructure and increase staffing levels to meet the growing demand, ensuring that even more veterans and their families receive the support they need to achieve housing stability and improve their quality of life.

“This expansion is a remarkable milestone for our community. It allows us to reach more veterans who need our support and ensures that they receive the comprehensive care and stability they deserve,” said Tamieka McLaurin, Assistant Director of Special Populations, who oversees the SSVF program.
