FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Fort Worth police say an officer shot and wounded a robbery suspect who raised a firearm several times toward officers.
Police say officers dispatched early Sunday morning to a robbery call saw a suspect armed with what appeared to be a rifle inside a convenience store. Officers were also in contact with an employee hiding inside the store in a cooler.
Police say they asked the suspect to surrender several times over a speaker system. But when the suspect raised his weapon several times toward officers, an officer fired a single shot at the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a hospital.
Police were still processing the scene and hadn’t determined whether the suspect’s firearm was a rifle or shotgun.
The involved officer was placed on administrative leave.
