Second day turnout of early voting in Texas’ largest counties higher than first

🕐 1 min read

Harris County — the largest county in Texas — reported record-breaking voter turnout numbers on Monday and then broke that record on Tuesday.

It wasn’t alone.

After a day of long lines and record breaking turnout figures on the first day of early voting in Texas, some counties are reporting even higher voter turnout on the second day, according to media reports and county elections offices. In past presidential elections, voter turnout on the second day of early voting has often stayed about the same as the first day or even dropped off some.

Here’s a quick roundup of turnout figures across Texas.

In Harris County, 73,542 votes were cast, compared to 51,578 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Dallas County, 53,278 votes were cast, compared to 34,265 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Tarrant County, 44,950 votes were cast, compared to 33,603 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Bexar County, 38,603 votes were cast, compared 32,784 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Travis County, 38,079 votes were cast, compared to 16,387 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Collin County, 30,644 votes were cast, compared to 18,063 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Hidalgo County, 15,881 votes were cast, compared to 11,441 votes in 2012 on the second day.

In Denton County, 19,311 votes were cast, compared to 13,742 votes in 2012 on the second day.

Early voting continues through Nov. 4. Election Day is Nov. 8.
