Storms lead to street flooding in Fort Worth, surrounding area

DALLAS (AP) — Spring storms have led to street flooding in parts of North Texas following several inches of rain.

Some vehicles were abandoned Monday by their drivers during street flooding in Fort Worth. The National Weather Service reports parts of Denton and Flower Mound also had street flooding from rainy conditions that could linger into Thursday.

Forecaster Jamie Gudmestad says Fort Worth received more than 2 inches of rain Monday. She says the Gainesville area had up to 5 inches of rain since Sunday.

Nobody was hurt Monday when a United Airlines jet on a flight from Las Vegas slipped off the taxiway after landing in Houston during rainy weather. The gear from Flight 1545 ended up mired in the muddy grass after the plane made a too-wide turn.
