San Diego-based Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., owners of Sweet Tomatoes and Souplantation fast casual restaurants, filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday, and plans to close 20 to 30 of its 124 locations. Among those are the Sweet Tomatoes locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The company’s website shows four locations in the Houston area remaining open.
Sun Capital Partners Inc., owners of Garden Fresh, also have investments in Friendly’s and Boston Market.
