Texas A&M University School of Law’s spring commencement ceremony has been set for Friday May 16, 2014, at the Fort Worth Convention Center ballroom, 1201 Houston St., Fort Worth.
More than 170 students who earn their doctor of jurisprudence degree in spring or summer 2014 will participate in the ceremony. Festivities begin at 10 a.m.
Serving as keynote speaker will be The Honorable Andrew H. Card Jr., former U.S. secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush and White House chief of staff for President George W. Bush.
Card, a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, also has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and as acting dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.
A congratulatory reception for graduates, their families, and law school faculty and staff will be held in room 201 at the Fort Worth Convention Center following the ceremony.
In keeping with the tradition of Texas A&M military history, active-duty military and veteran graduates will be honored at a ceremony prior to graduation at 8:30 a.m. in the Appellate Courtroom at the Law School, 1515 Commerce St., Fort Worth.
The commemorative red, white, and blue cords will be presented by Judge Joe Spurlock II, Texas A&M School of Law professor of law, decorated Vietnam War Army veteran, and Texas A&M University class of 1960.
