Texas mother accused of lying about child’s medical problems

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A 40-year-old North Texas woman has been arrested on charges she seriously injured her 13-year-old son by lying about his medical history, resulting in unnecessary surgeries and unneeded medications.

Danita Tutt, of Cleburne, was arrested Friday. Her son, Colby, and a younger brother were removed from her custody in May.

Child Protective Services documents obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (http://bit.ly/2auaXn9 ) show investigators feared she might end her older son’s life and worried about the safety of the other child. The documents describe Tutt as “an attention-seeking type person” who enjoys attention she gets for having two medically fragile children.

Tutt’s attorney, Christopher Cooke, says there’s “no question” Colby is sick and continues to be sick and that he has documents from physicians who say Colby is terminally ill.
