Texas Rangers to host hiring fair for veterans

Active duty military members, registered veterans and military spouses are invited to a job fair on July 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Globe Life Park, located at 1000 Ballpark Way in Arlington.

More than 65 employers are expected to participate in Hiring Our Heroes – Arlington Hiring Expo with Texas Rangers. The event also will include a free employment workshop at 8:30 a.m. focusing on resume building, job search tools and interview techniques for jobseekers.

Pre-registered attendees are eligible to receive up to two free tickets for them and their families to attend that evening’s game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees.

Interested jobseekers should pre-register online at www.hiringourheroes.org. Veterans must provide proof of service.

Lead sponsors of the hiring event are the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Capital One and GE. The event also is supported by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Texas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Veterans Leadership Program, Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, The American Legion, Goodwill Industries International and other local partners.

Since Hiring Our Heroes began in March 2011, more than 1,500 companies have hired 27,200 veterans and military spouses as a result of more than 900 hiring fairs.
