Three candidates have filed to be Tarrant County District Attorney. Former state district Judge Sharen Wilson, attorney Kathy A. Lowthrop of Arliington and and attorney George B. Mackey, a veteran attorney and former prosecutor, have all filed to run in the Republican primary. No Democerats filed for the position.

Current Tarrant County District Attorney Joe Shannon informed his staff earlier this year he will not seek re-election. Shannon was appointed district attorney following the 2009 death of longtime DA Tim Curry and was elected to the position in 2010.
