Small businesses move closer to victory

Registration for the City of Fort Worth’s eighth annual Small Business Plan Competition closed June 15, and the top 25 applicants have been selected to move on to the next round.

A city news release named the Top 25 for the 2018 Business Plan Competition:

These small business owners will participate in five weeks of group training provided by the Fort Worth Business Assistance Center and its local partners. According to the release, the group training includes one-on-one counseling, professional development workshops and coaching from industry experts.

The companies’ final business plans will be due Sept. 10, and 10 businesses will be selected to compete in front of judges during an Oct. 11 Pitch Night, during which 10 will be narrowed to three.

The top three finalists will then compete Oct. 25 for the prize packages, which in addition to cash include numerous donated in-kind services from businesses:

— $10,000 cash for first place

— $5,000 for second place

— and $3,000 for third place
