TownePlace Suites to be built between Lovell and Vickery

A Marriott-branded hotel will soon be standing between Lovell Avenue and West Vickery Boulevard.

Irving-based developer Icon Lodging is building a five-story, 128-room hotel south of Lovell Avenue and north of West Vickery Boulevard. Dallas-based Mayse & Associates will serve as architect on the approximately $7 million project. Construction started in March, and the hotel is expected to open April 2017.

The developer had to work with the city due to the project’s proximity to an area zoned for residential use. City policy does not allow a hotel within 1,000 feet of a residential zoning district, and about 1,000 feet away from the hotel property is a parking lot zoned for residential use, even though there’s no actual residence on the land. Thus, the Fort Worth City Council voted April 5 to give a special use permit to the hotel developer so the project can continue.
